Install the setup pane — authorized accounts only
Supported installation route
- Use an owner-authorized Outlook account on a supported Outlook client. First check whether custom add-ins are allowed for that account.
- Download manifest.xml. Keep the XML filename; a browser preview is not an installation.
- On the authorized account, open Microsoft’s Add-Ins for Outlook dialog. Select My add-ins → Custom Addins → Add a custom add-in → Add from File, and choose the downloaded XML. Add from URL is no longer supported. Never bypass a disabled custom-add-ins policy.
- Open a received message and select the Personal Hermes Bridge setup pane. Confirm it says “No mailbox is enrolled” and shows no live sync. If the add-in does not appear, stop and record the client/account/policy error; do not bypass policy.
- To remove it, return to My add-ins / Custom add-ins and remove Personal Hermes Bridge. There are no connected tokens or mailbox records in this public setup surface to revoke.
Microsoft reference: Sideload Outlook add-ins for testing. This is a custom testing installation, not an AppSource listing or an assertion of tenant approval.
Verify before distributing
The release operator must confirm valid TLS, HTTP 200 for every manifest asset, schema validation, the reviewed served build, and enrollment disabled. Installation proof must name an authorized client/account and an actual observed result, never a guessed screenshot.
